We are moving forward with great speed toward the launch of LifeVille! Next week, Monday through Friday, at 12 Noon ET I will host a series of calls with the LifeVille R&D team to co-create the Attraction Game. I hope you can join us.

This should be a LOT of fun and very creative.

I believe that game creation will become a new essential coaching skill

Benefits of participating on these calls (yes they will be recorded):

1) It will be FUN! You will experience the new Community Game System as a player.

2) You will learn our new game creation model which I believe will become a new essential coaching skill (since coaching IS about playing better, knowing how to create a challenging and winnable game is important)

3) You will have access to the complete 28 Principles of Attraction Program by Thomas Leonard. We will use this content as the foundation for the game. This is important because many of the LifeVille games will be created by using the concepts from a book as a starting point.

4) Be a part of a creative – collaborative process

The LifeVille Coaching Company – Game Design Overview

(excerpted from the LifeVille Coaching Company overview; available to LifeVille R&D members)

Step 1 – Design the Game

The concept of “playing the game” is essential to the fulfillment of a coaching service. In this section we will describe how the game and coaching play together and how & why we transform your content into a winnable game worth playing.

What coaching is; what coaching is NOT

Coaching is: guiding an individual or team to play better and win on their own terms.

Coaching is NOT: an intervention for problems; task management.

Our theory is that ANY endeavor in life can be transformed into a winnable game worth playing;

That true fulfillment in life occurs while getting very good and the few essential skills that bring great results AND a joyful experience.

In the industrial age, work was glorified and play was made to mean something frivolous. However we believe that the Human Spirit of Play is a powerful force that elicits creativity, engagement, resourcefulness, pursuit of mastery, fulfillment and the experience of joy. (Certainly NOT frivolous stuff)

A fundamental outcome of a coaching experience is the players’ transformation from a “work on problems” mindset to a “play with purpose to create possibility” mindset in EVERY aspect
of life – business/career, health, relationships, wealth creation, spiritual quest etc.

The game model

A coaching program is made up of a series of games – we think of it as a “season” like in athletics. Each week there is a new game for the players to play where they complete exercises, take actions and get results AND earn points for doing so. We design the game with YOU based on your concepts, strategies and practices etc.

The game is displayed and tracked in what we call our “Community Game System”. In the system the players track their results on line in a way that is publicly displayed for all of the players to see. The players can then see each other’s results and examples and share comments, challenge and support.

The community game system enables the integration electronic content in the form of written documents, audio and video. So for example if an action in the game card is to conduct an interview with 5 people, we can include a written document with the instructions and an audio or video of you demonstrating how to conduct the interview.

The community game system creates a powerful public accountability process that is extremely energizing.

Vision – Each player has a detailed profile where they create an online vision board of pictures and words for what they are creating in life. The vision board can be shared with all of the other players in the game or made private to be viewed only by the coach.

Purpose & Objectives – Each player articulates the purpose that this season of games serves in the big picture of their life vision. And they articulate specific objectives: tangible outcomes, skills to improve and characteristics to “become”.

Weekly Results – Each week there are specific results that the player is playing for. A result is something that can be measured and it is best if it is something that happens in the world around the player. For example: someone says “Yes” to an offer. The results for the game can be set by you OR if you prefer we can allow the players to customize the results they are playing for according to a set of guidelines. The players get points for creating results.

The game system also includes the ability to publicly share results. For example if a result in the game is to get a testimonial letter from a customer, the player can paste that into the game card for everyone to see.

Recurring Actions – The recurring actions are the specific activities of playing the game. They are skills that the player will practice with their coach and team mates and then bring into the world around them. The actions serve a duel role of producing results AND engaging the player in the pursuit of mastery. A game can include a variety of actions some set by you
and others customized by the players according to a set of guidelines. The players get points for taking actions and write a short note to share their thoughts and reflections about what they
learned and accomplished. These reflections create team bonding and provide a launching pad for coaching.

Exercises – Exercises are project-type actions that help a player improve the way they play the game but are not the game itself. For example in a business game a project would be getting business cards printed. This will help you play the game better but they are not the game. In the game system the players get points for completing exercises and can share their
reflections on the process. Also when appropriate the player can share something they create for their game by pasting it into the gamecard. For example if the exercise is to write a one-page overview of the benefits of a product they could paste the content into the game card for feedback from the Coach and other players.

Total Score – As the players complete the exercises and actions and produce results the game card updates their total score. Then each game card is summed for a total player score. The game page for all of the players shows each players current and total score.

Team Bonus – In group / team coaching programs there is a team bonus concept where if a team achieves a pre-set average number of points, the players receive bonus points. This creates an incentive for the players to support each other as they play the game in their own life.

Accumulating Points – The players accumulate points from game to game, program to program which is reflected in their point total like “frequent flyer miles”

Rewards program – As the player accumulates points they become eligible for rewards. This opens up a world of possibilities for sponsorship and incentive programs.

Why the game?

There are several benefits to using the game model for your coaching program:

A tangible way for the coach to track progress.

One benefit of using a game and score system is that it creates a tangible way for the coach to gauge and measure the progress of the player(s).

A tangible way to evaluate the coaching effectiveness

Another benefit to the game and score system is that it creates a tangible way to measure the effectiveness of each coach.

You can SEE what is happening

As the thought-leader, you will be able to log into the system and check the results of any program. You will be able to see the player score cards and see that your program and
your coaches are making a difference in the lives of your clients /our players.

We have an amazing opportunity here on the Caffeine, the introduction of a NEW work by Thomas!

Thomas was a non-stop thinker. He constantly had ideas, thoughts, questions – and he was constantly holding focus groups and writing things down. His laptop was always a flurry of activity.

He also was an internet explorer (sorry, Microsoft), looking into new ways to use the internet. One thing he did was upload works and works in progress to the CoachVille server. He had a laptop or two crash, and probably did it as a safeguard. He also may have had it up there for future collaboration with others. “Cloud” computing is something we think about now, but then – well, Thomas was the visionary, now wasn’t he?

While looking for a specific file to fix a link on a current CoachVille program, Vince stumbled upon a treasure: 101 Coaching Secrets. Thomas was working on a book, and had a working copy sitting out on the server, in a rather unassuming folder labeled, “secrets.” Now, who wouldn’t want to poke their nose into a file with a name like that? And that’s just what Vince did.

Inside was a treasure-trove of information and insights. While the work was not complete, much of it was already fleshed-out fully, and the full list of topics was already complete, with the secrets in groups of ten, under a specific heading for each group.

For the next few weeks, Terri will be sharing many of these secrets on the Caffeine program, while we continue to look for more notes on the subject – Thomas had a list of helper documents for the reader to refer to – It’s like National Treasure III, the works of Thomas, as we run off looking for files to the clues we are finding!

Feel free to listen in, grow, and share in this new work by Thomas. Let us know what you think!

Dear Coach,

One of Thomas Leonard’s sayings goes like this:

“People tend to highly overestimate what they can do in 30 days. And underestimate what they can do in a year.”

Here at CoachVille, we honor this philosophy of life with the 100-Day Challenge, a game Thomas invented that OVERprovides support so that people – you and I – can create results we’ve been stuck on.

“Procrastination is just another way a person shows that they don’t have enough support or resources.” Another Thomas goodie.

If you’ve procrastinated anything in the last quarter, perhaps now is the time to join the next 100-Day Challenge at CoachVille…

Starting on September 28th for 100 days…

It is 100% free for all Pro Coach members…

And only $49 for Basic Coach Members…

$49 for 100 days of group coaching support…

Click here for more details and to register for the program.

To get more of an idea about the program, have a look at the guidelines to the challenge that Thomas Leonard wrote, highlighted below.

Keep playing big,

100-Day-Challenge Project Design Guidelines

The selection and design of your CoachVille challenge project is key to its success. Please use the following suggestions to help you craft the most inspiring – and accomplishable – project possible.

The following are from Thomas Leonard’s original notes for the 2001 CoachVille Challenge:

1. Select a goal/project that is somewhat disruptive to your routine.

My project is 100 hikes in 100 days. That is disruptive to my schedule, believe me. It’s going to mean that I orient my day around this focus. That’s a good thing. I am working too hard and I need something to break up my current compulsive routine.

2. Make this an actions-project, not a results-project.

I could have called and packaged my projects as the “lose 30 pounds” project, given that is one of the most important outcomes for me. But one of the reasons that I packaged this as a hike is because a hike is action-oriented. I can control and manage that; I cannot control or manage 30 pounds of weight loss.

3. Select a project that integrates other parts of your life or priorities.

I selected the hike because I wanted to integrate something fun and different, vs. just going to the gym. I can hike, get exercise, see new areas, take cool photos for my website, meet interesting people and commune with nature. That’s integration.

4. Select a goal that catalyzes or stimulates other changes/improvements.

When I start hiking, it will cause me to eat better foods because I will need cleaner, more sustainable sources of energy.

5. Select actions that you can double up on in a given day.

I expect on some days I won’t be able to hike. Either I’ve got a full work day, or I’ll be on the road, or the weather will suck or I won’t be in the mood. So, I’ve not said I have to do a hike every day for 100 days; just 100 hikes in 100 days. I expect that I’ll do 2 hikes on some days. That allows me to still succeed with this project, even if life and reality gets in the way.

6. Make the actions measurable enough.

100 hikes in 100 days is pretty clear, but I’m going a step further in defining what qualifies as a hike. Is it a walk around the block? A trek up Mt. Everest? For the purposes of this project, it is two hours hiking/walking on a trail. If no trail is available, I can jog or ride my bike, but the commitment is to hike, not to jog or bike ride.

7. Select actions that are not conditional on someone else.

Make sure your actions don’t rely much on anyone else in order for the action to be accomplished. Obviously, 100 clients in 100 days would be a setup for failure for most people, but adding 100 people to your Team 100 network is doable, even if it does rely upon folks agreeing to be in your network. Even if some refuse, you really can pull this one off as long as you are willing to get on the phone and network.

—-

What is YOUR 100 Day challenge? What is something challenging, creative, and fun that you could do every day for 100 days that would rock your world (at least a little bit) and add value to the lives of others?

Dear Coach,

Have you ever considered there might be a slightly different language you could use to engage potential clients in the most important things in their lives?

You know, the topics that people are most interested in improving in their life, perhaps with you as a coach?

As you know, talking about coaching itself can be a challenge. So we at CoachVille like to use the metaphor of life as a game. We call this playing the games of life, and over the years, time has shown the language of playing a game in life to be very attractive to people. They immediately understand it, they like it because of the spirit of play it includes, and, they are easily able to say ‘yes, I want help winning the games of my life!’

The language of Playing the Game of Life also lends itself well to helping your clients have a Game Plan with you as their coach. It doesn’t have to be hard to start talking about your coaching in this context. Today’s issue of the CoachVille Member news gives you some immediate tools and language to adopt. If you try it even a little with existing clients you may find it really changes the degree of engagement in your sessions.

Of course, if you want to fully explore the method behind ‘Coaching The Game’ you will be interested in the CoachVille training that starts in just a couple of weeks. The Coach The Game program is simple, quick, and impactful. Be sure to check out the registration details and featured visual aid below. The first 5 people to register for the live program will receive a gift of the ‘Thomas Leonard Follows His Curiosity’ 2 CD set.

Keep playing big!

Coach Dave Buck

P.S. There is no reason why you cannot choose to play the game of your life too, as a coach! Taking the program will help you do that successfully first. And, for sure check out the 9 areas of wealth, below. You will either gain tremendous confidence, or, find areas you want to focus on – fast – through support and personal growth, all good things.

To Coach The Game Your Client Wants To Play, A Key Element Is Scanning the 9 Areas of Wealth – Any Coach Can Do It (Excerpt from the Learning Guide for the Coach The Game Program brought to you by CoachVille)

In this part of coaching your client’s winning game, you will get a quick scan of what your player is bringing to the game. This includes their personal resources and their specific desires in 9 different areas. We call these 9 areas the areas of wealth.

Getting to know your player and their situation

A BIG part of your job as a Coach is to REALLY KNOW your player. Even if you will be coaching them in the career or business game, you have to know at least a little bit about their WHOLE life. It is the only way to deliver a truly customized and exceptional service. This part of the conversation begins that process including a few areas that are often real ice breakers.

The basic theory

People play the meaningful games of life for many different reasons. And they can be summarized in the following way: express ourselves and contribute to the community in some way AND create wealth in 9 areas according to our values.

Coach the Game goes deeply into the pursuit of playing a game better. The program gets to the heart of what most people expect from a coach:

1. The ability to teach them how to play the game better by helping them learn, practice and refine the skills of the game AND

2. The ability to guide them with an effective personalized game plan.

3. The ability to debrief the game to facilitate development and learning.

You must be able to celebrate successes in a way that expands awareness and to debrief losses in a way that promotes growth and restores their desire to get back into the game.

To do these things, you must have a solid knowledge of the game and a clear method for guiding people to the results they desire. Your players trust you to have a way of doing things that is reliable, consistent and grounded in experience. We will help you put this together in this program.

Hey Coach,

Greetings from the campus of Seton Hall University! Today is our first day of training camp for the upcoming soccer season. I am very enthusiastic about the team this year – the guys are eager for a fresh start. Last season was rough – our worst record in my 14 seasons with the team. BUT that is the beautiful thing about periodization: when the season is over, you take a break and then a new season comes and you get to start over.

Think about bringing the idea of a new season and a fresh start into the BIG games of your life – your business, your romance, your career, your family.

Speaking of a new season…

We start a new semester of classes in the Center for Coaching Mastery in a few weeks – Classes begin September 1st. If you’ve been thinking about getting started in Coach training or renewing your quest for mastery, or looking for a great way to get CCEU’s, NOW is a perfect time to jump in. Whether full time or part time, the MOST important thing is to get into the game and PLAY!

The full teleclass catalog is here!
Our new teleclass catalog is pretty snappy!
Please check it out and tell me what you think.

Here is just a sample of what you will discover…

TRUTH #3: You sign clients
based on WHO you are.
(more than HOW well you Coach)

Coaching is an INVESTMENT. A Player will ONLY invest in a Coach they believe in.
The hidden truth is that you already have a LOT more credibility than you probably realize.

TRUTH #5: You retain clients based on how WELL you coach

Coaching is about results, not rent-a-friend! When your players get positive results and see progress, they stick around. But how do you get results when you are NEW to coaching? The hidden truth is that while there are no shortcuts on the path to mastery, with the right method you can get very good very quickly.

TRUTH #8: There is a 6-figure coaching model for almost EVERY game that can be coached

There are several proven business models that you can mold and combine to create the right offer, with the right value at the right price-point for the players you coach. The hidden truth is that you must master the Attraction Principle “Add Value for the Joy of it”.

Professional Coaching is Growing FAST!

We plan to clear up several misconceptions that often block people from going for a career in professional coaching. By the way, professional coaching is one of the fastest growing careers in the world and for good reasons that we will explain on the call.

> Are you ready to jump into the amazing world of professional coaching?
